New Mexico has a unique licensing system for elk, antelope and gemsbok in special limited quota areas. The majority of the licenses are offered in a lottery drawing. However, since most of these limited quota areas have some private land intermingled with the public land, the Game Dept. also issues landowners a very limited number of landowner authorizations, depending on their total acreage and level of usage. These private landowners in turn sell these authorizations to outfitters. These landowner authorizations enable us the unique opportunity to purchase a license for our clients over the counter for the special limited quota areas even though the hunter was unsuccessful in the lottery drawing.

Jim Bullis made an incredible shot on this nice billy on the last morning of his hunt.

The advantage of booking a guaranteed tag elk, muledeer, antelope or gemsbok hunt is that a hunter can book the hunt then plan on going this fall without having to worry about being left holding the bag because they were unsuccessful in the lottery drawing. Obviously, landowner authorizations for elk, antelope or gemsbok in a good area where a hunter has a high percentage chance of harvesting a trophy animal are in great demand and therefore are expensive. These hunts aren’t for everybody. If you’re looking for a guality hunt but these guaranteed tag hunts are beyond your price range we recommend our License Application Service for the Limited Entry/Lottery Draw Hunts.
The guaranteed tag deer hunts we offer in New Mexico are guaranteed because the outfitter pool allocation of 12% of the total tags is more that enough to meet the demand for tags here in southern New Mexico. There are far less applicants in the outfitter pool drawing than there are tags available, therefore the drawing odds are well over 100% for hunters who book a mule deer hunt with us by the April 9th application deadline. This enables us to offer a guaranteed tag muledeer hunt at a very reasonable price. The guaranteed tag deer hunts we offer in Texas are on large private ranches and the non-resident Texas Big Game license can be purchased over the counter.

Limited Entry/Lottery Draw Hunts:
Every year I receive literally hundreds of inquires from hunters who have what I call Cadillac taste and a Pontiac budget; i.e. they want to go on a quality elk hunt in an area that has a high elk density, good bull/cow ratio, good genetics, mild terrain and top end trophy quality. Oh, and by the way, they want to keep the cost below $5000 including the license/tag and airfare. A hunt like this is actually possible thru our License Application Service.
The lottery drawing for limited entry licenses in New Mexico is a rather complicated process. Twelve percent of all limited entry licenses are set aside for non-residents under contract with a licensed outfitter for a guided hunt. Seventy eight percent are set aside for resident hunters, and non-residents hunting on their own or on a drop camp hunt get the remaining 10%. Last year there were 19,080 unsuccessful non-residents for the 10% unguided pool and only 4,708 unsuccessful non-residents for the 12% guided pool for elk, antelope and deer! The drawing odds in the outfitter pool are usually from 300% to 1,000% better than in the non-guided pool drawing!!!!

We will process the license application(s) for our clients in our License Application Service system every year at no charge. We will submit up to three hunt code choices on each application. Up to four people may be applied together on one application for elk, deer, and antelope. Up to two hunters may be applied together for gemsbok. Hunters must be applied individually for Persian ibex and bighorn sheep. The New Mexico Dept. of Game & Fish will charge the hunter’s credit card an $8.00 application fee at time of application, and will only charge the card a non-resident license fee after the hunter is successfully drawn for a license. We require a $500 non-refundable deposit to get into our License Application Service. This deposit will be applied to the cost of the hunt when a hunter is successfully drawn for a license. The cost of the hunt(s) is guaranteed no matter what year the hunter is successful in drawing a tag.
We offer quality guided hunts for elk, antelope, muledeer, gemsbok, Persian ibex, and bighorn sheep at a very reasonable rate to hunters in our License Application Service when they are successful in drawing a license for a limited entry hunt in the lottery drawing. Our License Application Service allows our hunters the maximum benefit of the lottery drawing system in obtaining a license for a quality, high success hunt at a fraction of the cost of a guaranteed tag hunt.
The application deadline* for a limited entry/lottery draw licenses is
April 9th 2008!!!!
Gemsbok application deadline is Feb. 6th*
